  • Rman targetless duplication with different DB name and different directory structure using file_name convert

    Overview:

    Oracle Recovery Manager
    (RMAN) provides a comprehensive foundation for efficiently backing up and
    recovering the Oracle databases
    it provides a common interface, via command line and
    Enterprise Manager, for backup tasks across different host operating systems
    , automates administration of your
    backup strategies
    .

       In this scenario we have different database name and different
    directory structure. And we are transforming the directory structure in pfile
    itself, then no need to give extra parameters in rman duplicate command.

    Sqlnet.ora should have correct parameters.

    Target database should be running through pfile or
    spfile.

    Auxiliary instance should be start with pfile in nomount

    Steps on target (source) server
    1. Set Oracle sid on which backup will perform.

    2. Connect to target instance via RMAN.

  • Schedule Rman backup on windows operating system


    Overview:

    Oracle
    Recovery Manager (RMAN) provides a comprehensive foundation for efficiently
    backing up and recovering the Oracle databases
    , it provides a common interface, via command line
    and Enterprise Manager, for backup tasks across different host operating systems
    , automates
    administration of your backup strategies
    .



    Prerequisites:

    • Database should be in archive log mode.
    • We need to have super user credentials.

    Steps to schedule Rman backup:

    • Create Rman scripts
    Open
    textpad
    Set
    ORACLE_SID=<DB_Name>

    D:oracle11204product11.2.0dbhome_1BINrman.exe
    target / cmdfile= ‘F:Backup_scriptsdbname_rman_target.sql’ log=’F:Backup_scriptsdbname_target_backup.log’

    Save
    and exit

    Run

    {
    Allocate
    channel c1 device type disk;
    Allocate
    channel c2 device type disk;
    Allocate
    channel c3 device type disk;

    Crosscheck
    backup;
    Crosscheck
    archivelog all;

    Delete
    noprompt expired backup;
    Delete
    noprompt expired archivelog all;

    Backup
    as compressed backupset database;
    Backup
    as compressed backupset archivelog all;

    Delete
    noprompt backup completed before ‘sysdate-3’;

    • Open the task scheduler from start menu then right click and
      click on create new Task.


    • Give name
      and description of Backup in General Tab.



    • Click on trigger tab then click on new to
      schedule.



    • Provide backup
      date and time then click on OK.



    • Now click
      on action tab then new.


    • On this
      screen browse and supply Rman script name and location then click ok.



    • Now
      go to condition tab and check the conditions.

    Check
    setting tab and click OK



    • Once click ok, it will prompt for password, provide Administrator
      password and click ok



    • Backup has been schedule
      now.



    Conclusion:

    scripts and schedule it through task scheduler.
